Four Seasons Veterinary Specialists in Loveland, CO seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician (Cardiology) to join our specialty team. The role emphasizes ECGs, echocardiograms, client communication, and patient handling within a fast-paced cardiology setting.

You will work closely with cardiologists to deliver exceptional care, maintain records, and support a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent veterinary experience.
• Skilled in animal handling, lifting, restraint, and endurance.
• Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood draws, lab work, anesthesia monitoring, and triage.
• Knowledge of veterinary procedures and terminology; commitment to ongoing learning.
• Understanding of OSHA, DEA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments and medical procedures for the Cardiologist.
• Perform appropriate animal restraint for exams and record findings.
• Accurately record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights, and patient histories.
• Acquire blood pressures and perform ECG tracings; handle specimen preparation and submission.
• Communicate with referring veterinarians and clients regarding patient status and home care.

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Skills

ScheduleappointmentsandmedicalproceduresfortheCardiologist.

Performappropriateanimalrestraintforexamsandrecordfindingsontheexamform.

Accurately acquire and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights and take patienthistoriesandmaintainpatientrecordsbyrecordingallconversationswithclientin patient file.

Performvenipuncture,catheterization,runningCBCsandlookingatbloodsmears.

Obtainlaboratorysamplesincludingurineandfeces.

Prepareappropriatelabrequestformsandsubmitappropriatesamples.

Preparespecimenstobesenttoreferencelaboratories,shiplabworkto,andtake results from reference laboratories.

Checklaboratoryvaluestomakesuretheyarewithinnormallimitsandnotify the Cardiologist if they are not.

Administerinjectable,oral,anddermalmedications.

Giveinjectionsinaccordancewithgovernmentregulationsanddoctor’sorders.

Updatepatientstatusdailyatrequiredtimes.

AccuratelyacquirebloodpressureandoxygensaturationreadingsandEKGtracings.

Maintainlogsforcontrolledsubstances.

Enterchargesinthecomputerandprepareestimates.

KnowledgeofAmbulatoryECGplacementandrecording.

Stocksuppliesandcleanandmaintaincardiologysuite,equipment,andinduction.

Accuratelyfilloutprescriptionformsandplaceprescriptionordersatoffsitepharmacies for new and refill prescriptions.

Communicatewithreferringveterinarians.

Communicatewithclientsregardingthemedicalstatusoftheirpetandprovideaccurate information to them regarding procedure for home care and hospital protocols.

Enterpatientstatusdailyinthetreatmentsoftware.

Enterallchargesaccruedbyinpatientsandoutpatients.

Admitanddischargepatients.

Assistwithoutpatientandinpatientappointments.

Reviewmedicalrecordsandnotestodiscernthenatureofthevisitandanytestsor procedures that may be needed. Keep Cardiologist apprised of potential problems.

Assistandpreparesuppliesforoutpatientappointmentsandphysicalexaminations.

CommunicationSkills

Haveapositiveattitudeandwillingtolearnnewprocedures.

Keepdoctorsinformedofthepatient'sconditionandanypotentialproblems.

Communicate with clients regarding the medical information of their pet, provide accurateinformationtothemregardingprocedures,followup/homecare,hospital policies, diagnostics, and basic disease processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Minimum2yearsrecentveterinaryexperience

Skilledinanimalhandling,lifting,restraint,andabletostandforextendedperiods.

ProficientinIVcatheterplacement,blooddraws,labwork,anesthesiamonitoring, medication administration, and triage.

Solidknowledgeofveterinaryproceduresandterminology;committedtocontinued learning.

UnderstandingofOSHA,DEA,andanimalhealthregulations.

Preferred:

FamiliaritywithFearFreehandlingtechniques.

ExperiencewithCornerstoneandInstinctsoftware.
