Technical Skills
ScheduleappointmentsandmedicalproceduresfortheCardiologist.
Performappropriateanimalrestraintforexamsandrecordfindingsontheexamform.
Accurately acquire and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights and take patienthistoriesandmaintainpatientrecordsbyrecordingallconversationswithclientin patient file.
Performvenipuncture,catheterization,runningCBCsandlookingatbloodsmears.
Obtainlaboratorysamplesincludingurineandfeces.
Prepareappropriatelabrequestformsandsubmitappropriatesamples.
Preparespecimenstobesenttoreferencelaboratories,shiplabworkto,andtake results from reference laboratories.
Checklaboratoryvaluestomakesuretheyarewithinnormallimitsandnotify the Cardiologist if they are not.
Administerinjectable,oral,anddermalmedications.
Giveinjectionsinaccordancewithgovernmentregulationsanddoctor’sorders.
Updatepatientstatusdailyatrequiredtimes.
AccuratelyacquirebloodpressureandoxygensaturationreadingsandEKGtracings.

Enterchargesinthecomputerandprepareestimates.
KnowledgeofAmbulatoryECGplacementandrecording.
Stocksuppliesandcleanandmaintaincardiologysuite,equipment,andinduction.
Accuratelyfilloutprescriptionformsandplaceprescriptionordersatoffsitepharmacies for new and refill prescriptions.
Communicatewithreferringveterinarians.
Communicatewithclientsregardingthemedicalstatusoftheirpetandprovideaccurate information to them regarding procedure for home care and hospital protocols.
Enterpatientstatusdailyinthetreatmentsoftware.
Enterallchargesaccruedbyinpatientsandoutpatients.
Admitanddischargepatients.
Assistwithoutpatientandinpatientappointments.
Reviewmedicalrecordsandnotestodiscernthenatureofthevisitandanytestsor procedures that may be needed. Keep Cardiologist apprised of potential problems.

Required:
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Minimum2yearsrecentveterinaryexperience
Skilledinanimalhandling,lifting,restraint,andabletostandforextendedperiods.
ProficientinIVcatheterplacement,blooddraws,labwork,anesthesiamonitoring, medication administration, and triage.
Solidknowledgeofveterinaryproceduresandterminology;committedtocontinued learning.
UnderstandingofOSHA,DEA,andanimalhealthregulations.
Preferred:
FamiliaritywithFearFreehandlingtechniques.
ExperiencewithCornerstoneandInstinctsoftware.
FollowOSHAandUSPguidelinesforsafetyandhandlingofhazardousmaterials
Followestablishedhospitalsafetyprotocolsforanimalhandling,controlled substances, radiation protection, bite wounds, and equipment use
