Job summary

Methodist Southwest Medical Center seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, including ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support for adults and neonates.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Program, current BLS/ACLS, and NBRC-registered status with Texas licensure; NRP/PALS must be obtained within 1 year. Minimum 6 months of experience preferred.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
Current Basic Life Support certification
Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification
NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire
Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board
Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

Perform respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration, weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, bronchial hygiene, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
Perform and report prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures: ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs, ECGs.
Prepare treatment evaluations including bedside respiratory assessment and patient interview.
Apply critical thinking to select appropriate actions.
Interpret CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient information.
Assemble, check, operate and troubleshoot cardiopulmonary equipment.
Participate in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
Maintain and clean cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
Utilize appropriate patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
Perform other required duties.
