Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in West Virginia seeks a Respiratory Therapist responsible for evaluating and providing respiratory therapies for neonatal to geriatric patients and administering prescribed treatments. You must hold a state license, obtain BLS within 30 days of hire, and have or pursue ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, and Point of Care Technician credentials.

The role requires at least two years of experience and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Licensed respiratory therapist by the applicable state where services will be performed.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE and Point of Care Technician credentials to be completed as established by department.
• Two years of RT experience.
• Ability to work with neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic and advanced respiratory therapy procedures by physician order.
• Assembles, checks, and maintains respiratory care equipment; performs quality controls.
• Initiates and manages mechanical ventilation for patients as ordered.
• Communicates effectively with the healthcare team about patient care.
• Provides patient education with family/caregivers and supports education efforts.
• Contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Performs diagnostic procedures for various age groups as ordered by physicians.
• Maintains clinical/professional competence per standards.
• Demonstrates competency in departmental requirements.
