Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Respiratory Care Pediatric Specialist at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent. You will formulate, implement, and assess respiratory care for pediatric patients, using advanced modalities and equipment.

You’ll document patient progress, educate families, and engage in emergency resuscitation efforts. A strong team approach and adherence to standards are essential in this night shift role.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire date or transfer date.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credential through Indiana Respiratory Care Committee prior to hire.
• NBRC Respiratory Therapist credential within 12 months of hire date.
• Advanced Life Support preferred (AHA/ARC accepted).
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred (AAP).
• Pediatric Life Support preferred (AHA/ARC accepted).

Responsibilities

• Formulate, execute, and evaluate pediatric respiratory care protocols.
• Oversee advanced respiratory modalities and equipment use.
• Document patient status and assess treatment outcomes.
• Educate patients and families and refer to external resources.
• Participate in emergency resuscitation and respond to code events.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Formulate, execute, and evaluate individualized respiratory care protocols.
• Manage and oversee the application of advanced respiratory modalities and specialized equipment.
• Document, record, and communicate patient status, assessing treatment efficacy relative to established outcomes.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education regarding conditions and facilitate referrals to external community resources.
• Participate in the emergency resuscitation team and respond to critical code notifications.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• 2 years of Pediatric Critical Care experience preferred
• RRT is highly preferred
• Will consider a new graduate
