Job summary

Mercy seeks a Respiratory Therapist to perform direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care per physician orders, consult on therapy effectiveness, and act as an advanced resource for physicians and nursing staff.

Requirements include graduation from a CoARC-approved program, current RCP license, NBRC RRT credential; ER staff may require PALS. ACLS is preferred; physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs and other noted exertions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the NBRC. For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.
• Physical demands include push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 10 lbs; kneel, crouch, crawl.
• Preferred Education: ACLS
• Preferred Experience: Prefer critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care per physician's orders.
• Consults physicians on effectiveness of therapy.
• Acts as an advanced resource person for physicians and nursing on respiratory care.
• Performs duties as assigned.
