Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to support patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. The RT will work with the care team to evaluate and treat patients, participate in bedside rounds, and advocate for patient needs.

Responsibilities include collaboration with nurses and clinical specialists, documenting care in the EMR, and promoting high-quality outcomes while growing professional skills within IU Health.

Qualifications

• Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Indiana.
• Graduate of a CoARC accredited respiratory care program.
• Registry (NBRC) status as required or on track per policy.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP preferred per unit (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
• Participate in bedside rounds and advocate for patients.
• Collaborate with nurses, senior RTs and clinical staff to ensure care quality.
• Provide patient education and support using EMR documentation.

About This Position:

• Day Shift
• Sign On Bonus of $30,000 to Eligible External Candidates
• Weekend Requirement of Every Weekend

Our Respiratory Therapists (RT) work closely with our patients to evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders ranging in modalities and demographics. We are also responsible for collaborating with various different entities in the hospital setting including nurses, Advanced Respiratory Therapists, and Clinical Specialists to ensure total customer happiness and support.

Requirements:

• Requires current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the state of Indiana.
• Requires graduation from a CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) and regionally accredited respiratory care program.
• Requires that the N.B.R.C. (National Board for Respiratory Care) registry exam be passed within 6 months of hire date. The 6-month requirement for the RRT is void if hire date is one year past graduation date.
• Requires Healthcare Provider Certification. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Preferred ACLS; PALS; and/or NRP certification.
• Requires strong customer service skills.
• Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires the ability to deal with confidential patient information.
• Requires basic computer skills and ability to work with EMR.
