Indiana University Health in Indiana is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist to join the team at Ft. Wayne Hospital.

You will evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders and collaborate with nurses, Advanced Respiratory Therapists, and Clinical Specialists to ensure quality patient care. Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Indiana.
  • Graduated from a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program.
  • NBRC registry exam completed within 6 months of hire date; 1-year grace period if graduation date is within 1 year.
  • Healthcare Provider Certification is required.
  • ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP certifications preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential patient information.
  • Basic computer skills and EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
  • Collaborate with nurses, senior RTs, and clinical specialists to coordinate care.
  • Support patient care and contribute to a positive patient experience.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional advancement within IU Health.
  • Provide care within the hospital setting and adhere to unit policies.

About this position

  • Location: Ft. Wayne Hospital

Our Respiratory Therapists (RT) work closely with our patients to evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders ranging in modalities and demographics. We are also responsible for collaborating with various different entities in the hospital setting including nurses, Advanced Respiratory Therapists, and Clinical Specialists to ensure total customer happiness and support.

Requirements
  • Requires current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the state of Indiana.
  • Requires graduation from a CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) and regionally accredited respiratory care program.
  • Requires that the N.B.R.C. (National Board for Respiratory Care) registry exam be passed within 6 months of hire date. The 6 month requirement for the RRT is void if hire date is one year past graduation date.
  • Requires Healthcare Provider Certification. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Preferred ACLS; PALS; and/or NRP certification.
  • Requires strong customer service skills.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to deal with confidential patient information.
  • Requires basic computer skills and ability to work with EMR.
