Base pay range

$125,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

Intellectual property law firm seeks registered patent attorney with at least two (2) years’ experience for its New York City or Rockland County office.

“Of Counsel” arrangements will be considered.

Former patent examiners and registered patent agents are welcomed to apply.

Scope of Work

The ideal candidate will participate in all aspects of the firm’s patent practice including:

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. chemical, mechanical, electrical and design patent applications.
• Draft and submit appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and prepare reexamination requests.
• Prepare opinions on patentability, invalidity, infringement, and freedom to operate matters.
• Evaluate and identify gaps in patent protection within existing portfolios and prospective filings, and develop strategic and creative solutions to enhance IP protection.
• Assess IP infringement risks and patent validity, providing strategic design-around solutions.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide range of agreements pertaining to intellectual property rights.
• Counsel clients in patent related matters.

Requirements

• Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for chemical based inventions and willingness to work on utility and design patent applications for consumer and industrial technologies,including mechanical and electrical innovations.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional client service through responsiveness, strategic counseling, and the production of high-quality work. Strong attention to detail and precision in all aspects of patent practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction and collaboration with clients.
• Familiarity with foreign filings of patent applications preferable.
