Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and provides treatment for patients with disabilities, disorders, and injuries to relieve pain and restore, develop, or maintain physical function. Treatments may include exercise, massage, heat, cold, air, light, water, electricity, or sound. The therapist collaborates with patients' families and health team members to support patient abilities and goals. This role requires licensure in Oregon, relevant education, and strong communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients upon physician referral to determine therapy needs.
- Develop and implement treatment plans to relieve pain and improve physical function.
- Use therapeutic modalities such as exercise, massage, heat, cold, air, light, water, electricity, or sound.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary health teams regarding patient progress and goals.
- Document patient evaluations, treatments, and progress accurately and timely.
- Maintain knowledge of current orthopedic, neurological, and rehabilitation procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care strategies.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Licensure as a Physical Therapist by the Oregon State Board of Health.
- Current valid Oregon driver's license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of therapy procedures, orthopedic and neurological follow-up, and rehabilitation practices.
- Strong communication and effective team collaboration skills.
- Basic computer skills including document handling and email communication.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Previous experience in occupational therapy or related rehabilitation fields (desired but not required).
- Positive attitude and ability to support and respect team members.
Special Considerations:
- Must comply with Oregon licensure and certification requirements.
- Effective interaction with patients and interdisciplinary teams is essential.
- Work may require flexibility to meet patient needs and treatment schedules.
Scheduling:
- Work schedule and shifts to be determined by facility needs and patient care requirements.
- May include standard business hours with potential for variable scheduling based on patient appointments.
