Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care and treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols. You will assess patient needs, develop care plans, administer medications, and educate patients and families.

You may serve as a charge nurse or preceptor, coordinating licensed and non-licensed staff while maintaining accurate medical documentation and complying with regulatory standards.

About Us

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide professional nursing care and treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols. You will work independently to assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, administer medications and treatments, and educate patients and families. This position may also serve as a charge nurse or preceptor, coordinating licensed and non-licensed staff.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Management Preferences

Salary Range: $67,177 - $91,767

• Eligible for a $7,500 sign-on bonus. Additionally, positions are eligible for employee referral bonus program ($1,000).


• To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.


• Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
