Job summary

Baptist Health in Lexington, KY seeks a Registered Nurse, 2F/G on a surgical/telemetry unit. The role includes a $15,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates and a full-time 1st shift schedule. The unit handles telemetry patients, fast-tracking surgeries, and coordination of care across ED/PACU transfers.

The RN will provide direct patient care, perform rounds, support admissions/discharges, and educate patients and families, while adhering to evidence-based practices and department policies.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• ADN holders with <10 years' experience must enroll in a BSN within 12 months and complete it within 5 years.
• Basic life support required (within 30 days of hire).
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and dysrhythmia training as required by department.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with emphasis on nursing rounds, assessments and treatments.
• Facilitate admission, transfer and discharge activities.

Registered Nurse, 2F/G, Surgical/Telemetry

Unit Overview:

2F/G is a 30-bed medical surgical/ telemetry unit that specializes in telemetry patients and fast turnaround surgery including urology bariatrics, and orthopedic overflow. This unit serves our Bariatric Center of Excellence patients. Our patient population is mostly transferred from the ED and PACU.

Shift: Full-time, 1st Shift

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.

• S/he honors patients’ mind, body and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual.

• Nursing practices are based on evidence and current research as well as hospital and department policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.

• As a clinical nurse, this individual spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.

• Bachelor’s or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university

• Candidate with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and musthave achieved the degree within 5 years.

• Basic life support required [must be obtained within 30 days of hire].

• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of Assignment.
