Job summary

Ascension Saint Joseph in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced RN for night shift in the Specialty Float department. The role provides expert-level nursing care across high-acuity settings, including ICU, ED, and Telemetry, with autonomy to implement complex care plans.

You will monitor patient conditions in real time, communicate changes, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe transitions and adherence to evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Dynamic Clinical Agility: Deliver expert-level nursing care across high-acuity environments, including ICU, ED, and Telemetry. You will adapt seamlessly to diverse patient populations, implementing and monitoring complex care plans while executing physician orders with precision and clinical autonomy.

• Real-Time Assessment & Action: Serve as the critical link in patient safety by monitoring, recording, and communicating rapid changes in patient condition. You'll leverage your specialty expertise to assess needs on the fly and ensure every intervention aligns with the highest standards of evidence‑based practice.

• Multidisciplinary Leadership: Act as the central coordinator for the healthcare team, bridging gaps between disciplines to ensure seamless, well‑coordinated patient transitions.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preference:

• 1 year ED and ICU RN experience.
