Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Dayton is seeking a Same Day Surgery RN to provide pre- and post-operative care for patients, including admissions, discharge, and PACU collaboration.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with shifts 7:00 am–5:30 pm, no weekends or holidays. Minimum 2 years acute care experience and an Ohio RN license are required, with BLS certification. Pediatric specialty experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze patient assessment data to identify actual or potential health issues.
• Assess physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs.
• Utilize evidence-based assessment tools and validate findings with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Prioritize assessment findings based on immediate and anticipated patient needs.
• Identify risks and barriers to health and safety and document findings accurately.
• Modify care plans based on ongoing assessment and patient response.
• Ensure continuity of care through effective documentation.
• Monitor patient progress toward established goals.
• Reassess and revise care plans as needed.
• Engage patients, families, and team members in outcome evaluation.
• Document reassessment findings and care plan revisions.

Job Description

The Same Day Surgery RN provides care to patients before and after surgery and patients undergoing outpatient procedures. This will include admissions, post-operative care, discharge, and shared responsibilities with the PACU.

Hours:

This full-time position is 40 hours per week, working four 10 hour days, 7:00 am – 5:30 pm and no weekends or holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Same day surgery experience
• Pediatric and ICU experience
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
