Shriners Children's in Dayton, OH is seeking a dedicated Same Day Surgery Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care before and after surgery for outpatient procedures, including admissions, perioperative care, and discharge planning.

This full-time role is 40 hours per week, four 10-hour days, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, with no weekends or holidays. Requirements: BSN (or in progress), Ohio RN license, 2+ years acute care experience; BLS; pediatric/ICU/PALS preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze patient assessment data to identify health issues.
• Assess physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs.
• Utilize evidence-based assessment tools and validate findings.
• Prioritize assessment findings based on immediate and anticipated needs.
• Identify risks and document findings accurately.
• Modify care plans based on ongoing assessment and patient response.
• Ensure continuity of care through effective documentation.
• Monitor patient progress toward established goals.
• Reassess and revise care plans as needed.
• Engage patients, families and team in outcome evaluation.
• Document reassessment findings and care plan revisions.

Job Description

The Same Day Surgery RN provides care to patients before and after surgery and patients undergoing outpatient procedures. This will include admissions, post-operative care, discharge, and shared responsibilities with the PACU.

Hours: This full-time position is 40 hours per week, working four 10 hour days, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm and no weekends or holidays.

• Modify care plans based on ongoing assessment and patient response.
• Ensure continuity of care through effective documentation.
• Monitor patient progress toward established goals.
• Reassess and revise care plans as needed.
• Engage patients, families, and team members in outcome evaluation.
• Document reassessment findings and care plan revisions.

Required Qualifications

• BSN degree or in process
• Ohio RN License
• Minimum of 2 years experience in acute care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Same day surgery experience
• Pediatric and ICU experience
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
