About the Job:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to patients, supervising care treatment and services provided by LPNs, CNAs, and other staff on assigned unit and shift. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating an individual plan of care for each client, assessment and re-assessment of patients, and communicating appropriate information with the interdisciplinary team. Reporting client concerns and changes in condition to supervisor and/or physician in a timely manner is also crucial.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Education/Experience:

1. Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
2. Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
3. Valid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable.
4. Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.

What you will do:

1. Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of clients, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating clients and their families about various health conditions while ensuring client safety at all times.
2. Assess client’s status on an ongoing basis and document pertinent information.
3. Ensure nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and complete the initial treatment plan upon admission.
4. Take physician’s orders accurately and document appropriately; transcribe and review physician’s orders.
5. Administer medications per ordered note and document accurate count of controlled substances; adjust medications under provider’s supervision as needed.
6. Notify physician of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox or medical emergencies.
7. Supervise self-administration of medications using safety initiatives.
8. Maintain accountability of administration, recording, control, and security of medications, including narcotics.
9. Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.
10. Confer regularly with the treatment team regarding client care.
11. Provide education/explanation to clients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage and client rights.
12. Monitor client acuity, census, staffing needs, and make arrangements for coverage as needed.
13. Ensure thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all clients on each shift.
14. Provide thorough report to oncoming staff, supervisors, and physician.
15. Provide coverage in emergency services as needed.
