Registered Nurse (RN) (PRN) (Evening)

HOURS: PRN. Evenings, 11am–11pm.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in assessment of physical, psychological, and social dimensions of assigned patients. Applies knowledge of illness, wellness, injuries, diseases, and uses available resources and data in assessing and caring for patients. Documents and reports to the physician and other appropriate persons patient condition and/or other pertinent observations as well as response to nursing and/or medical interventions. Assesses and reports to the physician, cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory status, and complications that require therapy to offset catastrophic or life‑threatening events.
  • Assist in planning and documenting plan of care based on nursing assessment and medical diagnoses and applies knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, human behaviors, and appropriate standards of care.
  • Assist in and directly participates in implementing the plan of care. Implements clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established critical care policies and procedures. Intervenes with proper techniques, procedure, and safety precautions to meet individual patient needs.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of self‑care given by peers, environment, and instrumental in progressing patient toward outcomes.
  • Demonstrates competency in performing or assisting in treatments and medications such as basic nursing procedures (catheterization, suctioning, etc.). Application of cardiac monitoring equipment. Administering oral, rectal, sublingual, external, subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular medications. Mixes, hangs, and regulates appropriate IV drips under the direction of Physician.
  • Participates in patient teaching and discharge plan by identifying risk factors, pathophysiology of patient’s illness.
  • Documents and reports to other appropriate persons patient condition and/or pertinent observations as well as response to nursing or medical interventions.
  • Respects the dignity and confidentiality of patients and provides support for emotional needs.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and co‑workers.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocol, remaining calm and informing appropriate persons and documenting events.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge base and actions in the care of critically ill patients.
  • Assist with orientation of new personnel.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and unit function.
  • Participates in the development of Emergency Department nursing goals.
  • Participates in and supports research and/or quality assurance programs and activities.
  • Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, using lines of authority appropriately.
  • Formulates and uses effective working relationships with all health care team members, patients, and significant others.
  • Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolutions of staffing conflicts. Participates in temporary assignment measures of the department of nursing.
  • Participates in continuing education programs as required.
