Job summary

Wilson Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Post-Partum, Antepartum, GYN surgery, and M/S overflow. This full-time night-shift, in-person role includes a $20,000 commitment bonus and comprehensive benefits.

You will care for mothers and newborns, collaborate with Labor & Delivery and Nursery, and support families throughout recovery and discharge. The ideal candidate holds an Associate's Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred), an NC RN license, and BLS; ACLS and PALS within 6

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Current RN license to practice in the state of NC.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred in Post-partum or Medsurg.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of patient care prioritizing safety and reducing errors.
• Accurately assesses patients and identifies needs.
• Initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team and family.
• Develops and revises individualized care plans; completes Interdisciplinary Care Plan.
• Coordinates transfers, discharge planning, referrals, and psychosocial support.

The Post-Partum unit at Wilson Medical Center provides comprehensive care to mothers and newborns following delivery. Our team supports recovery, education, and family-centered care while collaborating closely with Labor & Delivery, Nursery, and interdisciplinary partners. Nurses in this department play a key role in postpartum assessments, newborn care, patient education, and ensuring a safe transition home for more than 800 families annually.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that prioritizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors
• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, provider, patient, and family
• Formulates individualized plans of care and revises them based on patient response
• Completes and updates the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Evaluates learning needs of patients and families and provides education appropriate to age, culture, and condition
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge planning, referrals, and psychosocial support
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients while protecting patient rights
• Demonstrates strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment

What we're looking for

A compassionate nurse with strong clinical judgment, critical thinking skills, and the ability to provide safe, patient‑centered postpartum care.

Requirements:
