Job summary

Wilson Medical Center in North Carolina is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Post-Partum / Antepartum / GYN surgery / M/S overflow. This in-person, PRN role offers varied schedule and the opportunity to care for mothers and newborns with a dedicated team.

You will perform assessments, develop care plans, educate families, and collaborate with Labor & Delivery, Nursery, and interdisciplinary partners to ensure safe transitions home for over 800 families annually.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Current RN license to practice in the state of NC
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
• ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire
• One year of experience preferred in postpartum or Medsurg.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of patient care prioritizing safety and reducing medical errors
• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, provider, patient, and family
• Formulates individualized plans of care and revises them based on patient response
• Completes and updates the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Evaluates learning needs of patients and families and provides education appropriate to age, culture, and condition
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge planning, referrals, and psychosocial support
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients while protecting patient rights
• Demonstrates strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

Our team supports recovery, education, and family-centered care while collaborating closely with Labor & Delivery, Nursery, and interdisciplinary partners. Nurses in this department play a key role in postpartum assessments, newborn care, patient education, and ensuring a safe transition home for more than 800 families annually.
