RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Post CTICU at the Main Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. The role emphasizes comprehensive patient assessment, safe medication administration, and collaborative care with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.

The position requires NJ RN licensure, BLS (ACLS preferred), and 1 year of acute care RN experience. A BSN is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years of hire; EPIC EMR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active NJ RN license in good standing with BLS and ACLS prerequisites
• BSN strongly preferred or completed within 5 years of hire
• ACLS preferred or obtained within 6 months of employment
• 1 year of acute care RN experience required
• EMR experience, EPIC preferred
• Per Diem Night Shift schedule and weekend/holiday rotations

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and treatments
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers for timely care decisions
• Educate patients and families clearly about care plans
• Document accurately in the EMR to ensure continuity and safety
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to team communication and outcomes

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification with at least 1 year of acute care RN experience required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. ACLS certification is preferred or must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Prior 2-3 years of RN experience is highly preferred and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a Per Diem Night Shift schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday rotations, 2 shifts per month, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
