UP Health System - Marquette is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Observation Unit in Marquette, MI. The role involves monitoring patients, supporting clinical decisions, and guiding them toward admission or discharge after 24-48 hours.

You’ll collaborate with physicians and care teams, perform plan-of-care interventions, document care, and ensure patient safety in a fast-paced ED/inpatient observation setting.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license required.
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule: 6 x 12-hour shifts, Night Shift (7p-7a), Rotating Weekends and Holidays
• $7,500 Sign-On Bonus available to qualified applicants

How You'll Contribute

An Observation RN who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Work closely with providers to ensure patients meet observation criteria. Monitor patients for a period of 24-48 hours to assess their condition and determine if they need to be admitted as an inpatient or discharged.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional Requirements Include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
