Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for its observation unit. Registered Nurse (RN), Observation

Job Type: Full-Time | 0.75 FTE or 60 hours per week. Schedule: 5 x 12-hour shifts, nights (7 p-7 a), rotating weekends and holidays. Sign-On Bonus: $7,500 available to qualified applicants.

How You'll Contribute

• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.


• Document patient care and progress.


• Work closely with providers to ensure patients meet observation criteria and to determine admission or discharge.


• Monitor patients for 24-48 hours to assess condition and collaborate with the care team.


• Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.


• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual or psychosocial support.


• Evaluate learning needs of patients and families and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.


• Serve as advocate for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being.

What We're Looking For

• Current Michigan RN license.


• Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school (Bachelor’s preferred).


• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.


• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
