Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
- Registered Nurse with cardiac, procedural, surgical services, Cath lab or similar experience responsible for assisting patients, families, and providers through the continuum of care to resolution.
- Ensures the availability, access, and timeliness of services to optimize quality of care, coordination, and patient experience.

- This is a contingent / per diem position offering a flexible schedule. Shifts are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 3:30/4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no weekend or holiday commitments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Monitor and track all patients diagnosed with heart valve disease, including but not limited to:
- Maintain a list of patients for aortic balloon valvuloplasty, mitral stenosis, pre-TAVR patients, and patients with mitral clip.
- Facilitate tests for patients.
- Prepare patient records for presentation at valve clinic meetings (cath films, MRA, carotids, TEE, lab tests).
- Conduct post-procedure follow-ups.
- Familiarize with echo criteria and valve protocols; notify physicians when questions arise.
- Identify patients needing ongoing diagnostic interventions and facilitate initial and follow-up encounters in multidisciplinary clinics.
- Contribute to the development of quality programs through the Valve Clinic Advisory Committees, including tracking information, care conference presentations, outcome measures, and patient satisfaction indices.
- Coordinate information and patient transfers to other hospitals capable of performing valve procedures.
- Provide and facilitate clinical and emotional support, education, and resources to patients and families.
- Work with patients, providers, and caregivers to identify and address barriers to care (financial, transportation, language, etc.).
- Ensure timely appointments by reducing intervals between abnormal results, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with providers, departments, caregivers, and patients to coordinate services within and outside the organization.
- Assist patients in accessing support and follow-up services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in nursing.
- Experience: At least three years of progressive clinical nursing experience in cardiovascular health.
- Licensure: Current licensure in the State of Michigan.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work closely with principal investigators and stakeholders to coordinate research activities.
- Knowledge of research design, statistics, regulatory, and ethical requirements (preferred).
- Basic computer skills and experience with database systems.
- Flexibility to work hours that accommodate study and patient schedules.
