Shift:
Day shifts, Monday to Friday, 'business hours' at Ann Arbor location, 4 ten-hour shifts
Description:
Provides support and clinical expertise to cardiac patients and staff. Triages test results to physicians and patients.
- Performs comprehensive triage and patient education.
- Acts as a liaison between patients, primary care physicians, and Michigan Heart physicians.
- Documents medical information in patient’s electronic health record.
- Reviews lab and test results and collaborates with team members.
- Recognizes abnormal cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and symptoms; intervenes appropriately following protocols; reports findings to cardiologist and team.
- Assesses walk-in patients to determine if an office visit is needed or if follow-up can be via telephone.
- Demonstrates dependability and flexibility regarding work schedule.
- Performs ECGs and other nurse visits as ordered by Michigan Heart Physicians/Providers.
- Assists patients with obtaining medication authorization.
- Refills medications per protocol.
- Maintains good rapport, approaches conflicts constructively, and participates in problem-solving.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient, physician, employee, and visitor information, discussing sensitive information only with appropriate personnel in private settings.
- Ensures job performance is conducted safely, reports hazards and unsafe practices immediately.

Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
At least 3 years of cardiac nursing experience; competence in cardiac arrhythmia recognition.
Certification/Licensure:
Michigan license; BCLS certification; ACLS certification required in regional offices responsible for pharmacological stress testing.
