Job summary

Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, KY is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical unit for full-time night shifts. The role involves direct patient care, medication administration, and collaborative teamwork to deliver high-quality care.

Qualified candidates hold a current Kentucky RN license and an Associate degree in Nursing, with BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications pursued within specified timeframes. Sign-on bonus available based on eligibility.

Qualifications

• Current Kentucky or compact RN license.
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing school.
• BLS required within 1 month of hire.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• PALS required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan of care interventions, administer medications and provide treatments as prescribed.
• Document patient care and monitor patient condition with the care team.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and hygiene needs.
• Coordinate with other departments for transfers, discharges and referrals.
• Educate patients and families according to age and cultural needs.
• Advocate for patient wellbeing and safety; float to other units as needed.
• Titrate and maintain critical drips and manage ventilators as required.
• Pass rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

The Med/Surg unit provides direct patient care to acutely ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments.

How you'll contribute

An MS Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Able to manage ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms.
• Able to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Kentucky or compact state RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hireEducation: Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Licenses: Must have a current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
