Job summary

Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, KY is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Float Pool. This full‑time position covers MS, IMC, ICU, Women's Services, ER and Fleming ER, delivering direct patient care across units using the nursing process.

Requires BLS, ACLS and PALS within required timeframes, Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred), and Kentucky or compact RN license. 2–4 years of critical care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS required within one month of hire.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• PALS required within 6 months of hire.
• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Kentucky or compact state RN license is required.
• 2–4 years of critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided accurately.
• Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age and condition.

More About Our Team

The RN Float Position provides direct patient care to floating across our units of MS, IMC, ICU, Women's Services, ER, and Fleming ER, using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This position coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient advocate and works as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments.

How You'll Contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Able to manage ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms.
• Able to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

What We're Looking For

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month of hire, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire
• Education: Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Licenses: Must have a current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
• Experience: 2 to 4 years critical care preferred.
