Job summary

UP Health System - Marquette, part of Lifepoint Health, is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 54-bed unit to deliver high-quality patient care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and support families through care transitions. Responsibilities include medication administration, documentation, patient education, and coordinating care across disciplines on 6×12-hour shifts (nights with some days) with rotating weekends/holidays.

Michigan RN license and ADN required; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate's degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.
• BLS Health Care Provider; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided and monitors patient condition.
• Coordinates with care team for transfers, discharges and referrals.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and education for patient/family.
• Advocates for patient well‑being and coordinates across disciplines.

$7,500 Sign-On Bonus available to qualified applicants

Schedule: 6 x 12-hour shifts, Varied - Nights Primarily w/some Days, (7-7's), Rotating Weekends and Holidays

More About Our Team

54 bed acute Medical and Surgical unit (3 wings with 18 beds each). We have good support from care aides to assist in patient care. Wide variety of patient conditions and interventions to hone skills and grow professionally. It's a fast-paced unit with admissions and discharges always happening throughout the shift.

How You'll Contribute

A Med Surg RN who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional Requirements Include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
