Job summary

Sovah Health - Danville is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical/Surgical unit on nights. The role includes delivering plan of care, medication administration, and patient education across a diverse hospital population.

You'll join a team with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, participate in interdisciplinary care, and support families while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Virginia license required, BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license; licensure must be updated to the PSOR if relocating.
• Associate degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or preferred.
• Experience in clinical area is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
