Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med/Surg unit on a PRN night shift. Join a 38-bed unit providing compassionate care with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio to assess needs, administer treatments, and ensure safety.

Required NC or compact-state RN license, Associate's degree (BSN preferred). BLS within 30 days; ACLS/PALS within six months; ~1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required.
  • Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire; ACLS and PALS within six months.
  • One year of RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and identifies needs with accurate nursing judgment.
  • Initiates appropriate nursing interventions and plans care.
  • Delivers age-appropriate patient care and safety measures.
  • Documents medical necessity and care in the medical record.
  • Completes and revises the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
  • Performs timely quality improvement assessments.

Job Type: PRN | Nights (7p-7a)

Schedule: 12-hour shift, PRN - as needed. Shifts may include weekends and holidays.

Join our team in a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). With a 1:6 nurse to patient ratio, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

How You'll Contribute
  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What We're Looking For
  • Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.One year of experience preferred
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
