Fairview Health Services is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) for the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank in Minneapolis, MN. Responsibilities span from triage to discharge, with resuscitation and stabilization as needed, in a 0.75 FTE, 12-hour evening shift schedule (11am–11:30pm) including every third weekend.

Ideal candidates hold ADN/ASN, MN RN license, BLS, and at least 1 year ED/CCU experience; ACLS/TNCC/ENPC within the first year is

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Facilitating diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and interventions.
• Demonstrating safe operation of unit equipment and adapting care to diverse populations.

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Emergency Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Emergency Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. The registered nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations. The scope of practice extends from a patient’s entry into the emergency room and continues from triage through discharge. Care is centered on patients and families experiencing acute or chronic, actual or potential physical or psychosocial problems. Unique to emergency nursing are processes that require resuscitation and/or stabilization.

Schedule: This position is a 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks), 12-hour evening (11am - 11:30pm) shift, with an every third weekend rotation.

As an Emergency Department RN, you will be responsible for:

• Delivering care to all ages and acuity of patients that seek medical care. Some unique patient populations include pediatrics, sexual assault survivors, psychiatric, trauma, solid organ and blood and marrow transplant, substance abuse.
• Safely performing advanced monitoring using current technology.
• Managing and safely administers complex medication and infusion therapies. Adjusts the patient’s plan of care following the evaluation of patient’s response to the infusion.
• Sedatives and Paralytics, Analgesics, Adrenergics (sympathomimetics), Antianginals, Thrombolytics, Antiarrthymics, Antihypertensives, Heparin, Antibiotics, Fluid and electrolyte replacement, Insulin, Blood products (FFP, Platelets, Cryo, Albumin).
• Caring for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
• Chest tube placement, needle thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis, needle cricothyrotomy with jet insufflation, external pacing, cardioversion, defibrillation, forensic collection, rapid sequence intubation, splint application, wound care and closure, conscious sedation, and spinal immobilization.
• Demonstrating ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.
• Demonstrating ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
• Fulfilling all organizational requirements
• Fostering a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
