Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 38-bed Medical/Surgical unit on the night shift (3x12s, 7p-7a) with rotating weekends and holidays. The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, thorough assessments, and collaboration with RNs, LPNs, and CNAs to maintain a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.

New grads may receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, while experienced night shift RNs with a 2-year commitment are eligible for $20,000.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact RN license required.
• AHA Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Ability to think critically, work under pressure and provide high-quality care.

Responsibilities

Join our team in a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). With a 1:6 nurse to patient ratio, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

How you'll contribute

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
