Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center - A Duke LifePoint Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical/Surgical unit. The role involves 3x12 shifts (7a–7p) with rotating weekends and holidays, in a 38-bed unit dedicated to compassionate patient care.

New grad RNs may qualify for a $10,000 sign-on bonus; experienced RNs with a 2-year commitment may receive $15,000. Licensure must be active in North Carolina or compact state, and BLS is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Join our team in a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). With a 1:6 nurse to patient ratio, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care.

How You'll Contribute

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs

What We're Looking For

Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
