Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU on a full-time night shift, with a 12-hour schedule and 7p–7a coverage. A $10,000 sign-on is available for new grads and $20,000 for experienced night shift RNs with a 2-year commitment.

The ICU features a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, telehealth support, and a strong emphasis on critical thinking, teamwork, and compassionate care. Relocation considerations may apply.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Must work well under pressure in a busy ICU setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify care needs.
• Initiate nursing interventions and document care accurately.
• Provide age-appropriate care and monitor patient condition.
• Complete and revise interdisciplinary care plans for each patient.
• Conduct timely QI assessments and ensure quality outcomes.

Join our team in a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Staffed with Registered Nurses (RNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), our ICU operates with a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio. We offer Telehealth intensivists for immediate support and manage a diverse range of diagnoses including respiratory failure, cardio/pulmonary disease, sepsis, and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, administering specialized treatments, monitoring critical conditions, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes. This position provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where teamwork, critical thinking, and compassionate care are paramount.

How You'll Contribute

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What We're Looking For

• Licenses: Active North Carolina or compact state RN license required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Associate's degree required, BSN preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
• One year of experience preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
