Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Labor & Delivery/OB. The role involves 12-hour shifts (0700-1900), part-time days, and every third weekend, within a 1:1 nurse-to-patient environment on a 10-bed unit.

You will perform assessments, implement interventions, document care, and participate in interdisciplinary planning while contributing to patient safety and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current state RN license and an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• ACLS preferred.
• PALS preferred.
• NRP preferred.
• Handle with Care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

More About Our Team

The Labor & Delivery/OB team operates on a 1:1 nurse to patient ratio. This unit has 10 beds with an invitingly warm environment, dedicated medical staff, and pediatric coverage by a Board Certified provider. Full and part time employees in this unit rotate every third weekend and major holidays.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• NRP preferred
• Handle with Care preferred
