Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for ICU on a PRN basis to provide skilled nursing care to acutely ill patients.

Under supervision of the Director, you will perform plan of care, document care, monitor patients, assist with activities of daily living, and collaborate with the care team. Preference for ACLS, PALS, and telemetry experience.

Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license (single-state or compact) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in Telemetry or Progressive Care nursing preferred.
• Flexibility to work flexible shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided and monitors patient condition.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support needs.
• Educates patients and families appropriate to age, culture, and condition.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient and participates in improvement activities.
• Maintains regular attendance and performs other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Director and is responsible for providing nursing care for acutely ill patients. RN performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Active Iowa RN license (single-state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
