Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Labor and Delivery Unit. This full-time Day shift features 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. three 12-hour shifts per week, with sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited nursing program; ADN must complete BSN within 5 years.
• 1 year of RN clinical experience in acute care required.
• Licensed or eligible for Virginia RN licensure; multi-state license acceptable.
• BLS required at start; ACLS/PALS within stated timeframes depending on unit.
• Chemo card within 3 months for Infusion Center units.
• Certification and licensure details align with job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care in a family-centered manner.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify care priorities.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans to optimize outcomes.
• Evaluate progress, anticipate changes, adjust plans as needed.
• Coordinate care and discharge planning with the team and resources.
• Advocate for patient rights; document accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines; serve as a mentoring resource.
• Engage in ongoing education and quality improvement initiatives.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities:

• Provides safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care in a patient- and family-centered manner.
• Performs thorough patient assessments, interprets data, and identifies care priorities.
• Develops and implements individualized plans of care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Evaluates patient progress, anticipates changes, and adjusts care plans accordingly.
• Coordinates care and discharge planning with the healthcare team and community resources.
• Advocates for patients' rights and ensures their needs and preferences are respected.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in compliance with standards.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines.
• Serves as a clinical resource, mentor, and preceptor to peers and new staff.
• Engages in professional growth, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Required Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Required Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
• Required Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start | For Critical Care Units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 Months | For Pediatric Units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support - Within 6 Months | For Infusion Center Units: Obtain chemo card- within 3 months of hire.
• Licensure Requirement: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience Labor and Delivery Experience on an inpatient Labor and Delivery unit
