Job summary

Texas Health Resources’ Fort Worth Neurosurgical unit is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care for patients undergoing neurosurgical, spine, brain tumor, stroke and related procedures. This Magnet facility offers a 36-bed unit and strong leadership, with opportunities for growth.

The role requires a Nursing Diploma or ADN (BSN preferred), Texas RN license, BCLS, CPI and NIHSS within stated timelines, plus 1 year of RN experience or completion of an RN residency;

Qualifications

• Nursing Diploma or ADN with BSN preferred.
• Current Texas RN licensure at hire.
• BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and quarterly refresh.
• CPI training within 90 days of hire.
• NIHSS certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year RN experience or completion of an RN residency.

Work hours: Full Time 7:00 pm – 7:00 am- Rotating Weekends/Holidays

Department highlights:

• The neurosurgical team provides care to the patient population with Neurosurgical, elective spine, cervical and lumbar surgeries, Brain tumor patients, cranial hemorrhage patients just out of ICU and back up stroke unit- this unit may also have some remote tele patients

Here’s What You Need:

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire required
• NIHSS -National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days of hire required
• 1 Year experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
• Current neuro surgical RN experience strongly preferred

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients. Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism. Have basic computer skills using Medical management application systems.
