Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the GI/GU Surgical Unit at Fort Worth. This full-time role features (3) 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays, and on-call potential to support census fluctuations.

You will deliver direct patient care to post-op GI, GU, and colorectal patients and participate in unit activities on a brand-new Magnet-designated unit. Ideal candidates hold an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Diploma, with current Texas RN licensure, BCLS, CPI

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by Texas upon hire.
• BCLS certification required prior to independent care and quarterly renewal.
• CPI training within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year RN experience or completion of an RN Residency.
• 2+ years med/surg RN experience preferred.

• Delivers care to patients using the Nursing Process.
• Assesses, plans, intervenes, and evaluates care.
• Ensures age-specific safety and infection control.
• Facilitates information for patients and families.
• Maintains inter-shift continuity of patient care and transfers.

Registered Nurse (RN) GI GU Surgical Unit

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours: Full Time, (3) 12 hour shifts 6:45p-7:15a - Rotating Weekends/Holidays; Team members may be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts in response to census fluctuations.

Department Highlights

• The unit will initially open with 20 beds, with plans to expand to the full 36 beds later in the year.
• The General Surgical Nurse provides care to a wide variety of post op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal, urology and colorectal surgeries with an average length of stay of approximately five days.
• Opportunity to work on a brand- new unit in the beautiful Justin Tower

Here’s What You Need

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
• BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
• BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training - within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse or the completion of an RN Residency program
• 2+ years med surg experience as an RN in acute care setting preferred.

What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
