Job summary

Texas Health Fort Worth, a facility of Texas Health Resources, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Surgical Trauma PCU/Burn Unit. This full-time night role offers 36 hours weekly across 3–12 hour shifts (6:45 pm–7:15 am) with rotating weekends/holidays.

Requires Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing, Texas RN license, and BCLS; ACLS within 90 days, TNCC/ATCN within 12 months, CPI within 90 days. Burn/PCU experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Nursing diploma or associate degree required; BSN preferred.
• Current RN licensure for Texas or compact licensure authorized by BON.
• BCLS certification prior to independent patient care; quarterly maintenance.
• ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• TNCC/ATCN within 12 months of hire preferred.
• CPI within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients using the Nursing Process.
• Assess the patient and plan the care.
• Intervene as appropriate and evaluate outcomes.
• Incorporate age-specific safety and infection control into care.
• Maintain continuity of patient care across shifts and transfers.

Work hours: Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 3-12 hours shifts, 6:45 pm – 7:15 am

Position requires 12‑hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Team members may be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts in response to census fluctuations.

Department Highlights

• Justin 5 is a 26‑bed Surgical Trauma Progressive Care (PCU) and Burn Unit. 18 beds are for Surgical Trauma or Burn PCU patients and 8 beds are for Med-Tele Burn Patients. This unit provides higher‑acuity surgical trauma and burn care, including treatment in a dedicated hydrotherapy procedure room for the burn population. Although patient populations differ, this is one integrated unit, and staff are expected to work across both care areas.

Here’s What You Need

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
• TNCC or ATCN - within 12 months of hire preferred
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
• PCU and/or Critical Care experience preferred
• Will consider ED experience
• Burn unit experience a plus

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
