Job summary

Pen Bay Hospital in Maine is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 for a Temporary 13-week, full-time 36-hour/week day shift in the Intensive Care Unit. The ICU/Step-Down Unit cares for patients with acute respiratory issues, cardiac events, sepsis, and complex postoperative recoveries.

Qualifications include RN licensure; BLS; ACLS/PALS within one year; NRP within one year for OB/NICU as applicable; BSN preferred; one year of RN experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • RN licensure in the appropriate state required; BLS certification required.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications to be obtained within one year of start date or per department guidelines.
  • NRP certification within one year for OB/NICU per department guidelines.
  • One year of RN experience preferred.
  • Annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency required for any RN assisting Laboring Women.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate, delegate, and communicate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal care.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in the ICU/Step-Down unit and manage patients with respiratory failure, cardiac events, sepsis, and complex post-surgical recoveries.

Summary

This is a Temporary (13-week) Full-time, 36 hour/week, Day shift position.

Unit Bio

The Intensive Care Unit is an 8-bed ICU/Step-Down Unit, where nurses are responsible for conducting complex assessments and providing intensive therapies and interventions to a variety of patients.

Nurses have the opportunity to care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory failure, cardiac events, sepsis, metabolic disorders, complex surgical recoveries, and more.

The Registered Nurse - Acute Care role provides high quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Collaborates, delegates, and communicates with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal care.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. ICU, SCU, ED and PACU RN’s require ACLS and PALS Certifications within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines. OB, NICU RN’s require NRP Certification within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines.
  • Experience: One year of recent RN experience preferred.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency for any RN assisting Laboring Women required.

The pay range for this position is $37.09to $50.17 per hour.
