Job summary

Sovah Health - Danville is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the ICU. The role features 3 12‑hour shifts with every other weekend and compensation at an hourly rate of $55.

Applicants must hold a Virginia RN license (single‑state or compact) and have an associate degree in nursing; a bachelor’s is preferred. ACLS/BLS and clinical experience are required or encouraged. Join a 250‑bed academic acute care hospital committed to high‑acuity patient care.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license.
• Associate's degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in clinical area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration and other clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors and communicates patient conditions to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and mobility needs.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate transfers, discharges, and referrals.
• Assesses learning needs of patient/family and provides education.
• Advocates for patient’s physical and emotional well‑being.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.

• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio

How you’ll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

Associate's degree in nursing required.

Additional requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support
• American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire
• Experience in clinical area preferred
