Job summary

Lifepoint Health, Inc. through UP Health System - Marquette is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse to join our night-shift team. This 0.9 FTE role (72 hours per pay period) features 6 x 12-hour night shifts, 7-7, with rotating weekends and holidays.

In a 24-bed ICU, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document care, monitor patient status, and support families. Michigan RN license and an associate degree are required; bachelor’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan RN license.
• Associate degree in nursing; bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration and other clinical treatments, and documents care provided.
• Monitors patient condition and communicates updates to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists with activities of daily living and supports patient transfer, discharge, and referrals.
• Educates patients and families about care plans, age-appropriate considerations, and cultural needs.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

More about our team

ICU has 24 total beds with the ability to care for ICU and IMCU patient populations with care aide support. This team supports open heart, neuro surg, CRRT programs, as the level 2 trauma center for the UP of Michigan, Cath lab and Interventional radiology perform high risk PCI and high-risk procedures. ClinicalEducator is located on the unit and follows the ECCOs program for orientation. Acuity changes from high ICU census to high IMCU census.

How you'll contribute

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
• Handle with Care- Advanced (within 90 days)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (within 1 year)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) (within 1 year)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) (within 1 year)
