Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks an ICU RN for a 3x12 day schedule with rotating weekends/holidays. This full-time role emphasizes exceptional patient care in a collaborative ICU setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transfers, discharge planning, and family education.
• Maintain accurate medical records and advocate for patients.

How you'll contribute

An RNICU who excels in this role:

• Provides direct patient care to critically ill patients using the nursing process and evidence-based practices
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and identifies changes in patient condition
• Administers medications, treatments, and life-support interventions as prescribed
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient status to physicians and the care team
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, transfers, and discharge planning
• Educates patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the medical record
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients and families

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current New Mexico or Compact State RN license and possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.

Los Alamos Medical Center is the only hospital in Los Alamos County and is a major healthcare provider for Northern New Mexico.
