Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room as an OR Circulator. The role supports perioperative care in a collaborative team with surgeons and anesthesia providers.

Schedule is 3x12 days, 7am–7pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. A sign-on bonus up to $30,000 is offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Current New Mexico or Compact State RN license
• ADN from an accredited nursing program
• BSN preferred; ADN required
• BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred (within 30 days of hire)

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care throughout all phases of surgery
• Performs preoperative assessments and verifies surgical readiness
• Maintains sterile environment and ensures compliance with standards
• Advocates for patient safety before, during, and after procedures
• Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team for efficient workflow
• Documents patient care, procedures and outcomes accurately
• Assists with positioning, specimen handling, and intraoperative monitoring
• Participates in on-call rotation as required

How you'll contribute

An Operating Room Circulator (OR Circulator) RN who excels in this role:

• Coordinates patient care throughout all phases of surgery
• Performs preoperative patient assessments and verifies surgical readiness
• Maintains a safe, sterile environment and ensures compliance with AORN standards
• Advocates for patient safety before, during, and after procedures
• Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow

• Assists with positioning, specimen handling, and intraoperative patient monitoring
• Participates in on-call rotation as required

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current New Mexico or Compact State RN license and possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred, Associates required
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred, but must have within 30 days of hire.
