Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Emergency Services (ER) to join our fast-paced department. This full-time night position emphasizes rapid assessment, decisive care, and collaboration with physicians and the care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered service.

The ideal candidate holds a NM or Compact RN license, ADN, and BLS certification, with BSN preferred. ACLS/PALS and Handle with Care are advantageous and should be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Current New Mexico or Compact State RN license.
• ADN from an accredited nursing school.
• BSN degree preferred; ADN required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS and Handle with Care preferred, but must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs rapid and accurate patient assessments to identify emergent care needs.
• Initiates and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on patient condition.
• Administers medications, treatments, and procedures per physician orders and nursing standards.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and responses to treatment.
• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate timely patient care.
• Provides education and support to patients and families.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current New Mexico or Compact State RN license and possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred, Associates required
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred, but must have within 30 days of hire.
