Job summary

Los Alamos Medical Center in New Mexico is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse to join a highly collaborative team delivering care to critically ill patients. You will work with physicians, respiratory therapists, and care teams to provide evidence-based interventions.

The role emphasizes clinical excellence, ongoing professional growth, and patient-family education. A current NM RN license and ADN are required, with BSN preferred; BLS required and ACLS/PALS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Current New Mexico RN license (or Compact state).
• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred, must obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to critically ill patients using the nursing process and evidence-based practices.
• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and identifies changes in patient condition.
• Administers medications, treatments, and life-support interventions as prescribed.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient status to physicians and the care team.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, transfers, and discharge planning.
• Educates patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients and families.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a current New Mexico or Compact State RN license and possess an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Education: Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred, Associates required


• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred, but must have within 30 days of hire.

Job Type: Full‑time | Nights

Schedule: 3x12, Nights (7p-7a), Rotating Weekends and Holidays
