Job summary

Inova Health seeks an experienced Emergency Department Nurse for the Cornwall Campus Freestanding ED in Leesburg, VA. This full-time mid-shift role (3pm-3am) includes rotating weekends and a sign-on bonus with relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

The ED handles 35-50 patients daily with approximately 20% pediatric patients, nurse-to-patient ratio of 3-4:1, ventilator and ABG trained staff, and a supportive team environment with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• 1 year of RN experience in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• BSN or ADN required; if ADN, plan to complete BSN within 5 years and follow required steps.
• Licensed or eligible for Virginia RN licensure; multi-state license acceptable.
• BLS certification; ACLS within 6 months for CC units; PALS within 6 months for Pediatric units.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care and care coordination in a patient- and family-centered manner.
• Use standardized guidelines and pathways for care delivery; assist with additional duties as assigned.

Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery team.
• Conduct all patient care in a patient and family-centered manner.
• Use an integrated approach toward patient outcomes
• Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery.
• May perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, for Critical Care units, 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Education: BSN or AD. If RN has an AD, within 2 years from date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1.) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend 2.) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date 3.) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses 4.) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• License: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; For Critical Care units, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within 6 months of hire; For Pediatric units, Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: Two(2) plus years Emergency Department (ED) as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Other: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others. Proficient computer skills required
