Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool Team. Opportunities across Acute Care, Critical Care and Emergency Department Float Pool. Shift: 12-hour day and night shifts. Schedule: full-time and part-time.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Virginia or eligible
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree in Nursing
• 1 year of RN experience; critical care experience if ICU
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments and synthesizes data to inform care plans
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessments and trends
• Supports patient and family through health promotion to end-of-life decisions
• Advocates for patient rights and serves as a resource to resolve issues
• Addresses ethical, spiritual and cultural needs to maximize outcomes
• Documents all patient care activities and assists with documentation
• Evaluates outcomes and contributes to performance improvement initiatives
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and mentors others
• Acts as a clinical resource and supports ongoing professional development
• Maintains continuing education records with required hours

Shift:12 hour day and night shift

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool Job Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Supports and empowers patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual and cultural needs of patients and intervenes to maximize patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation
• Evaluates the outcomes of documentation and contributes to related performance improvement initiatives
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and leads other disciplines to meet desired outcomes
• Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members
• Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certification:Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
• Licensure:Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
• Experience: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse; if Critical Care Unit, minimum 1 year clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship
• Education: Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree; If RN has an Associate's Degree, within 2 years of date of hire, they must meet with their nurse leader and conduct the following: 1) Identify which accredited school they plan to attend, 2) Provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date, 3) Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses, and 4) Complete BSN within 5 years of start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience preferred
