Job summary

UT Health East Texas in Tyler, TX seeks a Registered Nurse for the South Broadway Emergency Room on rotating shifts and PRN. You will provide nursing care across the age spectrum, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based treatment.

Ideal candidates hold ADN, Texas RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS/ENPC and NIHSS certification or achieved by orientation. This role emphasizes patient safety, efficiency, and compassionate care in a Level I trauma center environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ADN required.
• Must maintain current Texas RN License.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• ACLS is required before the end of orientation.
• PALS or ENPC is required before the end of orientation.
• NIHSS certification before the end of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Administers care to a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric and utilizes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to ensure that each patient receives nursing care appropriate to his/her illness or injury.
• Prioritizes patient care needs based on the patient assessment and uses the nursing process to implement a plan of care appropriate to each patient’s needs.
• Delivers care consistent with the physician’s orders and treatment protocols and in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required before the end of orientation
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) is required before the end of orientation
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification before the end of orientation

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year of emergency nursing experience
• Two years of acute care nursing experience
• CEN
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
