Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky seeks an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department. The ED features 19 beds/4 chairs with fast track for non-emergent patients and a dedicated clinical decision area.

You will provide comprehensive nursing care across age groups, following evidence-based practices and hospital policies. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, critical thinking, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure healing and wellness.

Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is required.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
  • Completion and maintenance of BLS.
  • ACLS & PALS (or ENPC) within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferred TNCC NIHSS within 3 months of hire.

  • Assess patient needs and implement appropriate nursing interventions per department scope.
  • Delegation of nursing care activities and supervision; maintain a plan for delivery of nursing care.
  • Follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures; ensure patient safety.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department

11a- start 11p- end 5 weekend shifts required per 6 wk schedule holidays required 1 on call shift per 6 wk schedule

The Emergency Department is a 19 bed/ 4 chaired area with a separate 2 bay, 1 bed clinical decision area designated for patients ranging in age from birth to death with health care needs from nonemergent to critical. The unit has designated rooms used for life-threatening conditions with special equipment and supplies, and rooms designated as fast track for non-emergent patients.

A Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. This individual honors patient’s mind, body, and spirit by respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. Nursing practices are based on evidence and current research as well as hospital and department policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through helping relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines. The Registered Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. Assessment and identification of patient needs and implementation of appropriate interventions considering the needs of patient populations per department scope of service. Delegation of nursing care activities and provisions of supervision; establishes and maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently. Has access to medication storage areas as required for job tasks. Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

  • Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is required.
