Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking an RN-CDU for the PRN first shift in the Clinical Decision Unit. The CDU provides telemetry level observation care to determine inpatient admission needs, with focus on ongoing assessment, patient comfort, diagnostic clarity, and timely discharge decisions.

The RN will assess needs, develop care plans, provide direct care, lead care delivery, and support quality and healing environments within the CDU.

Qualifications

• Kentucky RN licensure or work permit required.
• Bachelor's degree or ADN from an accredited college/university.
• If ADN holder with <10 years, must enroll in Bachelor’s degree within 12 months of hire and complete within 5 years.
• BLS certification required; if not already certified, obtain within 30 days of hire date.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and dysrhythmia class as department requirements.

Patients in the CDU typically need extended monitoring, testing, and treatment. The CDU focuses on patient comfort, efficient diagnostic clarification, and timely decisions regarding safe discharge or hospital admission.

Requirements

• Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
• Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
• Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
